Federal鈥&鈥疭tate Grants at 麻豆女郎

Money you don鈥檛 have to pay back can make a big difference in your college journey. At 麻豆女郎, we offer several grants funded by the federal government and the state of Ohio to support students who demonstrate financial need. Here鈥檚 what you need to know including eligibility to dollar amounts and next steps.

 

Major Grant Programs You Should Know

Choose Ohio First Grant

Provided by the Ohio Department of Higher Education, this renewable grant supports Ohio resident first-year and transfer students in approved STEM or health science majors who maintain a 3.0 GPA. Up to four awards are offered each fall, with priority given to students accepted by Dec. 1.

Federal Pell Grant

This is our foundational need鈥慴ased federal grant. For the 2026鈥27 academic year the award ranges from $740 to $7,395 depending on your eligibility.

Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Awarded to students who get the Pell Grant and have the lowest Student Aid Index (SAI). At Bluffton the typical FSEOG award is $1,000.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)

For Ohio residents with high financial need (SAI鈥墹鈥3,750, household income up to ~$96,000). For 2025鈥26 the full鈥憈ime award is $5,000.

TEACH Grant

For undergraduate/graduate students who agree to teach in a high鈥憂eed field for four years. Award amount for first disbursement after Oct鈥1,鈥2023: $3,772.

 

How These Grants Work Together

  • You must file the鈥疐AFSA庐 to qualify for these grants. This is the first step to show financial need.
  • Your Student Aid Index (SAI) and other data determine eligibility and award amounts.
  • These grants are 鈥済ift aid鈥 which means they don鈥檛 need to be repaid, assuming you meet the conditions of each program.
  • The grants are added into your aid package and can reduce your out鈥憃f鈥憄ocket cost, sometimes significantly.

 

What You Should Do Next

  1. File your FAFSA庐 as soon as possible. This unlocks eligibility for federal grants and many state programs.
  2. Review your offer letter from Bluffton. The grants you鈥檙e eligible for will show there.
  3. Confirm you meet eligibility: full鈥憈ime status, Ohio residency & selective service registration (for state grants), major requirements (for TEACH), etc.
  4. Maintain your academic progress: You need to stay enrolled and meet academic minimums to keep your grants.
