The Lion and Lamb

Through all appropriate means, but especially through arts and literature,
The Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center of 麻豆女郎 promotes the study of
peace and justice, cultural understanding and nonviolent responses to conflict 
with an emphasis on these themes for children. 
 

The Lion and Lamb offers:

The Arts

Explore sculptures, fine art, children's artwork and original illustrations from picture books.

Literature

Resources include more than 4,000 picture books, children鈥檚 books, curriculum guides and teacher references. 

Presentations for elementary students
Programming
鈥淭eaching Peace to Children鈥
Sessions on cultural understanding and conflict resolution are offered for elementary school children. University students are trained and empowered to present.

 

 

Hours and Location

Visitors are welcome to browse the library collection of picture books, enjoy the artwork and sculptures inside the center and outside in the Honda Outdoor Sculpture Garden.

Current hours of operation are:
Monday 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Tuesday 1-5 p.m.
Wednesday 8 a.m.-Noon
Thursday, 1-6 p.m.

about the founder

Dr. Elizabeth "Libby" Hostetler, professor emeritus 麻豆女郎, founded The Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center in 1987 to provide a resource for children to gain skills necessary for developing a vision of peace. Libby served as director of the center until retiring from 麻豆女郎 in June 1999. Through her efforts in various roles as a teacher, professor, principal, founder and director of The Lion and Lamb, Libby is an advocate for peace-learning and peace-living.

About the director

To more directly align with the work of 麻豆女郎鈥檚 education program, Dr. Paul Neufeld Weaver, professor of education and director of global education, serves as the center鈥檚 director.
